This twine won’t sting!

I’ve never even been a fan of nettle tea but this summer I decided to have a go at turning nettles into twine.

Needless to say, I wore gloves as I removed the leaves and gently bashed each stem before bending it, then peeling off the outer layer.

A little while and a lot of twirling later my lengths of twine were left to dry.  They make strong twine, as do layers of nettle stems left to dry and later plaited (shown at the bottom of the photo).
